District Administration and the Future of Education Technology Conference organizers aim to spotlight innovative solutions on the market that are helping leaders meet the ever-evolving education technology needs of their districts and schools. Sown To Grow's Weekly Emotional Check-In provides a simple and engaging routine where students check in and share how they are doing with their teacher, offering students an approachable means to voice ideas or needs they might not otherwise open up about.
As students and teachers deepen relationships, school leaders get insights on student well-being and alerts for students who may need elevated or urgent support. This real-time data enables proactive student support and helps schools and districts bring student voice into decisions around Tier 2 & 3 interventions.
The rise in student mental health needs coupled with unsustainable student-counselor ratios has created an urgent need for scalable student support solutions. Sown To Grow has received support from the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, Digital Promise, NewSchools Venture Fund, and others to develop natural language processing AI that can help teachers provide thoughtful responses to student reflections and that can flag concerning reflections that may indicate deeper intervention is necessary. This helps schools scale a base level of support to all students, while prioritizing resources where they are most needed, and ensuring the students who are struggling in less visible ways do not slip through the cracks.
